Marion County Virtual Academy (MCVA)


Information for Parents & Students


The Marion County Virtual Academy is being created in direct response to the feedback we received from parents/guardians in recent surveys. For the 2020-2021 school year, we will offer a 100 percent virtual online school option for our K-12 students. This program will also enable students to work completely online from home.

Families need to understand this will not look the same as the virtual experience during spring 2020. The expectations will mirror face-to-face instruction, and there will be a significant time commitment of parents/guardians to help facilitate and supervise virtual learning, especially for K-6 student(s).


Marion County Virtual Academy program will provide the following to students:

  • 100% online experience
  • Online classes completed at home under the supervision of an academic content area teacher
  • Flexible course load and scheduling to meet individual student needs
  • Encouragement and monitoring to complete assignments as scheduled
  • Student grading that is consistent with the MCBE district grading policy

Marion County Virtual Academy student responsibilities:

  • Enrollment in the program for a minimum of one grading period (nine-weeks)
  • Internet access and appropriate technology device

Marion County Virtual Academy student responsibilities:

  • Work daily in assigned courses
  • Meet daily/weekly pacing expectations
  • Communicate with program supervisor and teachers electronically
